Great tips to accomplish your goals

A Goal Without A Plan Is Just A Wish

Are you one of those people who resolves to lose that twenty pounds then quits after losing two? Or do you promise to organize your desk weekly and wind up cleaning it every six months? Do you finish the goals you set for yourself or do you fall short?

The first question you need to ask yourself (if you wish to stop this trend) is “Why?” Why don’t you finish what you said you would? Once you find out the reason why, you can work better on tackling it.

If you forget your goal, write it down everywhere you can. Put a sticky note on your laptop, write with dry erase markers on your bathroom mirror, or print out a reminder and tape it to your pantry. You must constantly be reminded of your goal and why you want to accomplish it.

If you don’t complete your goal because it gets too hard or seems too big, consider splitting it up into smaller, faster, and easier sections. If you want to eliminate fast food from your diet, consider cutting out a certain food or restaurant at a time. If you want to save a certain amount of money per month, consider molding your budget a little bit more every four weeks to fit with your desired amount.

If you find yourself putting off your goal, try creating a step by step or week by week plan to achieve your desired result. You can also add an incentive to your life to get your goal done on time or faster. For instance, losing weight before a wedding, saving money for vacation, or joining a book club to ensure you get your reading done on time. MySchoolYear.com can also help divvy up your books into bite-size “lessons” so that you have an easy to follow and complete plan.

Overall, the most important thing to remember is that you’ll never get anywhere if you don’t know where you’re going and don’t put in effort. What works for someone else may not work for you so experiment and discover where your “sweet spot” is. Remember, every accomplishment begins with the decision to try. 🙂
